My Kawai BS30 piano sits prominently on the back wall of my studio. My upright piano search came to an abrupt end the moment I played my first chord on this beauty. I’ve composed and recorded countless songs with this piano, including my album Paper Trail, born from improv sessions lasting late into the night.
Same piano, all new samples. Although a few FX Layers from The Meyer Felt have been carried over, the primary microphone signals have been meticulously resampled, capturing even greater detail and dynamics. Four new inspiring layers have been added, expanding the already diverse sonic palette.
PURE & FELT
A pair of U47 clones were used for both the felt and pure microphone signals, capturing the subtle details and nuance of the hammers and felts from close range for a tight, intimate sound.
BODY
A pair of Coles 4038 Ribbon mics were placed behind the piano, capturing the warm, mellow tones of the soundboard.
